This scholarship aims to award financial aid to journalism majors, ideally those concentrating in print or broadcast media.
Eligibility for the Mildred W. Seydel Scholarship at Georgia State University:
- Students must be rising juniors, seniors, or graduate students currently enrolled at Georgia State University.
- Students must be journalism majors, preferably with a print media or broadcast media concentration.
- Students must be members of the GSU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists/Sigma Delta Chi and/or a member of the GSU chapter of Women in Communications.
- Students must hold and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
- A 500-word autobiographical essay telling why the student is pursuing a journalism career must accompany each application.
- Two letters of recommendation from college authorities must accompany each application, and at least one letter must be from a journalism professor.
