Mervyn & Katalin Paterson Fellowship 2024

Eligibility for ANU Mervyn & Katalin Paterson Fellowship:

• Students enrolled full-time in a graduate research program at the Research School of Earth Sciences. Must have been enrolled in their research program for a minimum of 6 months.
• Open to all nationals

Value of the Fellowship:

Provides AUD 7,500 per annum.

Application Process:

Applications must include a clear proposal outlining how the student would gain from the experience. If the proposal calls for time spent at a different institution, the applicant must submit proof that the host school has accepted them. Additionally, information on any assistance from outside sources or the host institution must be included. Applications need to be endorsed by the supervisor of the student.

Selection process:

After reviewing the applications, a Selection Committee will be formed and tasked with recommending whether or not to award the Fellowship. The Associate Director (HDR), RSES (or nomination), and the Associate Directors (or nominee) in charge of the research areas shall make up the Mervyn and Katalin Paterson Fellowship Committee. A candidate for the Scholarship will be chosen by the Committee if, in its judgment, they are at a point in their program when traveling to a foreign country and attending a significant international conference will significantly advance their research. If the selection committee concludes there isn't a candidate with enough merit, the Fellowship won't be given out.
