Overview:
Established in 1998 in memory of the donors’ parents, Janet and William Davidson McKay, and Minda and Vilho Katainen. Awarded to full-time graduate students on the basis of financial need and satisfactory academic standing. Preference will be given to students of Finnish heritage residing in Northwestern Ontario. Recipients must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants of Canada and must have lived in Ontario for at least twelve months in a row.
Eligibility for Mary C. & T.W. (Bill) Katainen Graduate Bursary:
- Must be a full-time graduate student at Lakehead University
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must maintain satisfactory academic standing
- Preference given to students of Finnish heritage residing in Northwestern Ontario
- Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident (landed immigrant) of Canada
