Overview

The Government of China is offering the Marine Scholarship of China to non-Chinese students who wish to pursue a postgraduate degree in oceanography or other related specialties.

Eligibility for Zhejiang University - Marine Scholarships in China:

  • Candidates applying for the Marine Scholarship of China must be non-Chinese nationals from a coastal/island country of the Pacific, the Indian Ocean, the South China Sea, and its surrounding island countries, or an African developing country.
  • Students must apply for a master’s or doctoral degree in oceanography or other related specialties at one of the participating Chinese Universities.
  • Applicants who are currently involved in oceanographic and relevant sectors are given more priority. 
  • Candidates applying for a Master's degree must be aged less than 40 years, while doctoral degree applicants must be under 45 years. 
  • The duration of the Marine Scholarship of China varies for the Master's degree (2-3 years) and Doctoral degree (3-4 years).
  • Scholarship holders who choose Chinese as their teaching language and request language training before their studies will get training for a year, and the scholarship funding will be extended by one year.

Documents Required:

The applicants of the Marine Scholarship of China must submit the following documents in Chinese or English along with the application form:

  • Scholarship Application Form 
  • A copy of the last degree certificate.
  • Academic transcripts.
  • Study or research plan.
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • A copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

Value of the Zhejiang University - Marine Scholarships in China:

  • Exemption from costs associated with registration, tuition, lab fees, internships, basic educational supplies, and on-campus housing
  • Living allowance: RMB 2,000 for PhD students and RMB 1,700 for master's students per month
  • Subsidy: 1,500 RMB and healthcare services
  • Travel expenditures are the student's responsibility.
