Marian Cranwell Prize

The Marian Cranwell Prize was established in 1975 by a donation from Lucy Cranwell Smith (Mrs Watson Smith), who graduated with a  Master of Arts and a Doctor of Science from the University of New Zealand at Auckland University College. 

Eligibility criteria for the Marian Cranwell Prize:

  • Applicants must be undertaking Master’s or PhD study.
  • The thesis or dissertation must focus on environmental or ecological science.
  • The research writing should address issues concerning the environment or ecological sciences.
  • Selection is based on the quality of the thesis or dissertation.

Application process for the Marian Cranwell Prize:

  • No separate application is required.
  • Eligible applicants are awarded on the recommendation of the relevant faculty or University of Auckland committee.
