The Knowledge Media Institute (KMi) is an interdisciplinary, multinational research environment. We are world-renowned for our expertise in artificial intelligence, data science, cognitive science, instructional multimedia, human-centered computing, human-computer interaction, machine learning, and semantic technologies.

Eligibility Criteria of the Studentship:

  • Applicants may come from any nationality.
  • Applicants must ideally hold a relevant Masters degree.
  • Applicants must hold a first or upper second class degree from a UK university or its equivalent.
  • Non-EEA applicants will require an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6 in each element of Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing (if from a non-English speaking region).
  • Applicants must apply for the studentship in the Open University (Milton Keynes campus). 

Application Process:

  • The candidates must complete and submit the respective Online Form.
  • The application should include the following components:
    • Covering letter/email - outlining the reasons for applying;
    • Research proposal (max. 2,000 words);
    • Full curriculum vitae, (including the contact details for two academic referees).

Value of the Studentship:

The successful candidates are awarded GBP 19,237 per year.
