Overview
The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation is appreciative of Daiwa Securities Group Inc.'s extra funding for this initiative, which supports the scholars from 2015 to 2022. 29 people have received scholarships since 2015 with a focus on Japan in fields like archaeology, art, history, and Japanese literature from both the UK and Japan. The goal is to provide funding for postgraduate research on Japan in a UK or Japanese university.
Eligibility:
- British nationals who have earned or are working toward a degree in Japanese Studies, which is described as a course that heavily emphasizes the study of Japan while emphasizing the language. Candidates may also apply if they have completed or are studying combined honors courses in which at least 50% of the coursework is in Japanese. The scholarship would be used to pay for an additional Japanese studies course of study.

Value of the scholarships:
- The Scholarship will cover university fees for the course in question, plus living expenses. Living expenses will be payable at a rate of £1,400 per month for periods spent in the UK, and ¥280,000 per month for periods spent in Japan.
- The Foundation will contribute £1,000 towards the cost of one economy class return airfare between the UK and Japan in the case of Scholars who will be flying out to Japan to begin their course of study.
- The Foundation will contribute £1,000 towards the cost of one economy class return airfare per annum between the UK and Japan in the case of relevant travel being undertaken.
