Eligibility for Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award at the University of British Columbia:

Along with academic merit, other factors are taken into account, such as leadership abilities, involvement in student affairs, community service, achievement in recognized extracurricular activities like athletics, debating, or creative writing, and success in external math and science competitions and exams like the International Chemistry and Physics Olympiads. Only kids recommended by the school they attend will be taken into consideration. Provided the recipient remains in the top quartile of their program of study and retains their position as a student with a student permit to study in Canada, the awards will be renewed for a maximum of three additional years of undergraduate study or until the degree is completed, whichever comes first.
