    About the Scholarship:

    This award recognizes outstanding research in the Doctor of Education program. It is named in memory of John Smyth, who served as the inaugural Professorial Chair of Education at the University from 1919 until his death in 1927 and as Principal of the Training College in Victoria (which later became the Melbourne Teachers' College) from 1902 to 1927.

    Eligibility for the John Smyth Award:

    • Applicants must be graduating with a Doctor of Education degree.
    • Students need to be classified as Domestic/International students.

    Selection Criteria:

    This prize is awarded to the student who submits the most meritorious thesis for the Doctor of Education degree in the preceding year.

    Application Process:

    No application is required. Students will be automatically considered for this award upon enrollment with the university.
