This scholarship was established in remembrance of Dr. John Janis Apinis (BS '64). Janis, a Latvian immigrant, went back to school in his 40s, graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a degree in pharmacy, and began working at Madison General Hospital as a registered pharmacist.
