John Howard Scholars for Students at Samford University 2025

Samford University offers the John Howard Scholars Program to students who have enrolled in an undergraduate-level program at the University.

Eligibility Criteria for John Howard Scholars for Students at Samford University 2025:

• Applicants must be declared majors within the Howard College of Arts and Sciences at Samford University.
• Applicants must have completed at least three semesters of undergraduate study.
• Applicants must hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.8 after those three semesters.
• Applicants must receive an official invitation from the college in order to apply.
• Applicants must demonstrate strong intellectual leadership and interest in research, interdisciplinary learning, and academic engagement.

Application Process:

• Students who meet the GPA and major requirements automatically receive an invitation to apply.
• Invited students must complete the Howard Scholars application.

Value of the Scholarship:

• All successful recipients of John Howard Scholars can avail of the following benefits:
  • The students will be recognized at an introductory dinner and on the Howard College website.
  • The students will meet with the Dean of the College to work toward accomplishing the stated goals. 
  • The students participating in group activities regularly will be named permanently as Howard Scholars and be given honor cords to wear at graduation.
