The purpose of this scholarship is to provide funding to undergraduate students in the School of Music.
Eligibility for theJohn C. Nelson Scholarship in Music Theory at Georgia State University:
- The recipient has to be a senior in high school.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for recipients.
- A minimum of twelve hours of upper-division theoretical coursework should have been completed by the candidate.
- The applicant needs to have gotten a reference from the professor, as they were excellent music theory students.
- Students who want to continue graduate studies in music theory will be given preference; students who are composition-focused should not be given this distinction.
