Overview

The John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) is a merit-based and highly competitive program designed for scientists and economists from partner countries who are currently participating in, or have recently participated in, ACIAR-funded research projects.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidates applying for John Allwright Fellowships in Australia, 2027 should have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of postgraduate study.
  • The Candidates must not be citizen of Australia, hold permanent residency in Australia, or be applying for a visa to live in Australia permanently.
  • The applicants should be a scientist or an economist from the developing country partner. They should be actively involved in a research project supported by ACIAR at the time of application.
  • The applicants must be  a scientist or economist who is actively involved in an ACIAR research project or small research activity within the last 24 months.
  • The candidates are expected to be supported by the Australian and partner country Project Leaders.
  • The applicants should get approval from the employing institution, which must agree to the absence of the candidates in case they receive a scholarship.
  • The candidates should show that they are employed on a permanent basis rather than on a short-term contract basis.
  • The applicants must have recently undertaken an English language testing program, i.e., IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or are prepared to take the test on receipt of application outcome.

Value of the Fellowship:

  • The recipients get full tuition fees, economy class airfare to and from Australia, and living expenses (on successful completion).
  • The recipients also get Student Health Cover, Introductory Academic Program (IAP), and supplementary academic support.
