Overview

The main purpose of the Prize is to recognize high standards of academic achievement in students of Geology who return to study after a significant period away from academia. The capital sum for the Prize was provided by donations from family and friends and fellow students and staff of the Department of Geology.

Eligibility for Jeff Allen Memorial Prize in Geology:

Applicants must:

  • Be a full-time student enrolled in:
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Science (Geology focus), or
    • Master of Science in Earth Science
  • Be a student returning to study after a significant period away from academia.
  • Achieve the highest overall marks in their program.
  • Note: The prize may not be awarded in a given year if no candidate meets sufficient merit standards.
  • In case of a tie, the Head of School determines whether the prize can be shared.

Value of the Jeff Allen Memorial Prize in Geology:

The value of the Prize will be $1,000.

  • Nomination made to the Scholarships Office (no direct student application).
  • Recommendation by the Head of the School of Environment.
