James W Stoudt Memorial Scholarship 2026

The Pennsylvania Bar Foundation's James W. Stoudt Memorial Scholarship Fund is a living memorial to the late James ("Jim") W. Stoudt, one of the Pennsylvania Bar's most devoted benefactors. Renowned for his refined and proficient guidance and charming demeanor, Jim played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Pennsylvania Bar Trust and provided it with diverse support for over four decades. Despite his shorter term, he was just as important to the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation, acting both as our first unanimously chosen Director Emeritus and as a Director. His unshakable dedication, his ready nature, and his wise counsel and insights will always be appreciated.

Eligibility criteria for the James W. Stoudt Memorial Scholarship:

• Applicants should have good academic achievement demonstrated by their academic transcript.
• Candidates should have a financial need certified by the financial aid office of their law school.
• Applicants should be residents of Pennsylvania and their residency should be documented by their current voter registration card or current driver’s license.
• Candidates should have the potential to contribute to society and the legal profession as discussed in the applicant's essay and proven by the applicant’s recommendations.
• The minority scholarships are specifically earmarked for students from historically under-represented racial/ethnic backgrounds, such as Black (African) Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans.
