The Jakob Mann Scholarship at the University of Oldenburg supports particularly talented international students and doctoral candidates with outstanding academic or research achievements. The Jakob Mann Foundation provides graduation scholarships as well as a one-year full scholarship for highly talented students and doctoral candidates.
During the funding period, scholarship holders must be registered in Oldenburg or the neighbouring regions. Funding is not available for stays abroad, and any absences must be approved in advance by the Jakob Mann Foundation.
Eligibility Criteria for the Jakob Mann Scholarship at University of Oldenburg 2026:
- Applicant must be an international student or doctoral candidate enrolled at the University of Oldenburg.
- Applicant must be classified as a Bildungsausländer/in, meaning they obtained their university entrance qualification outside Germany.
- Applicant must demonstrate outstanding academic or research achievements or other evidence of giftedness.
- Applicant must be studying in at least their third semester at the University of Oldenburg.
- Applicant must be registered in Oldenburg or the neighbouring regions throughout the funding period.
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
- Applicant must demonstrate relevance to the region, such as an intention to pursue a doctorate in Oldenburg or strong regional career prospects.
- Applicant must hold a valid residence permit for the purpose of studying for a degree or completing a doctorate, generally under Section 16 of the German Residence Act (AufenthG).
- Applicant must not receive BAföG at the same time.
- Applicant should ideally demonstrate active involvement in society and/or university politics.
- Applicant must not be a language-course participant, exchange student, or part-time student.
- Applicant must not hold German citizenship in addition to their international status.
