The Scholarship is funded by Jacobs, formerly known as SKM, and was established in 2004. Assisting and motivating students pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), or Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) conjoint degree in all departments within the Faculty of Engineering is the primary goal of the Scholarship. By participating in the training of upcoming engineers, Jacobs will be able to promote the engineering profession and establish beneficial relationships between the sponsor and the recipient of the scholarship.
Eligibility for Jacobs Engineering Scholarship at the University of Auckland:
- Students enrolled in Part II, Part III, or Part IV of a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering (Honors), Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), or a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) conjoint degree will be awarded the scholarship.
- Students who are citizens or long-term residents of New Zealand are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- The University of Auckland Council will grant the scholarship based on the recommendation of a Selection Committee that includes two Jacobs representatives and the dean of the faculty of engineering, if applicable.
- The Selection Committee will consider the following when recommending a candidate for this Scholarship: academic merit; technical aptitude and professional skills and/or technical aptitude as demonstrated in laboratories; leadership potential and character; involvement in university and/or community activities; potential to advance the engineering profession; general work experience and a candidate's CV; and interview preparation. Urban infrastructure, water network design, road design, transportation planning, bridges, structural, environmental, geotechnical, mechanical, process, chemical, or electrical engineering should be of interest to students.
Value of the Scholarship:
The value of the scholarship is NZD 6,000, which will contribute towards compulsory tuition fees.
