The Ministry of Human Resource Development in collaboration with the University Grants Commission has demonstrated a keen interest in advancing higher education within the North Eastern region. To foster higher education, and support young individuals from economically disadvantaged segments of the North Eastern area, the UGC has resolved to establish the "Ishan Uday" Special Scholarship Scheme.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be from the North Eastern Region (NER).
- Applicants must have passed Class XII or equivalent exam from a school situated within NER through any recognized Board of Education, including:
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE),
- Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE),
- National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) within NER only,
- Applicants may have secured admission in general degree courses, and technical and professional courses including medical and para-medical courses in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions recognized by UGC.
- The applicant's household income should not exceed INR 4.5 lakh per annum.
Value of the Scholarship:
- Rs. 54,000/- per annum for General Degree,
- Rs. 78,000/- per annum for Professional courses.
