Overview

International Excellence Scholarships are available for students who have already demonstrated academic excellence or show potential to do so during their time at Swansea University. Scholarships are awarded as a discount on tuition fees for postgraduate taught courses and MRes programs.

Eligibility criteria for International Excellence Scholarships (Africa) at Swansea University 2025:

  • Be classed as overseas fee payers.
  • Have an unconditional offer for an eligible Undergraduate or Master’s course at Swansea University for 2025/26 entry.
  • For Master’s applicants: Hold a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent).
  • Be self-funded (not sponsored by a government or third party).
  • Be applying for full-time, on-campus study only.
  • Have course fees of at least £16,000.
  • Not be studying for the following:
    • PhD, MPhil, MRes, Masters by Research
    • Postgraduate Diploma, Certificate, Graduate Diploma in Law
    • Go Global, Exchange, Erasmus Mundus
  • Not progressing from The College Swansea University.
  • Have strong academic performance and show potential contribution at Swansea.
  • Alumni and students progressing from UG to PG are eligible.
  • Not combine this award with other IRO scholarships if the total exceeds £7,000.

Benefits of International Excellence Scholarships (Africa) at Swansea University 2025:

  • Up to £5,000 for the first year of study.
  • UG students achieving 70%+ in their first year may receive an additional £2,000 in year 2.
  • Total scholarship cannot exceed £7,000 (including any other awards).
  • Tuition fee reduction only (no cash alternative).
