Overview

Established in 2009 by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) is designed to attract outstanding students worldwide to pursue their PhD studies at Hong Kong's universities.

Eligibility Criteria for the Fellowship:

  • Applicants may come from any nationality.
  • Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic performance, research ability, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants must be enrolled as full-time PhD students at any of the following universities:
    • City University of Hong Kong
    • Hong Kong Baptist University
    • Lingnan University
    • The Chinese University of Hong Kong
    • The Education University of Hong Kong
    • The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
    • The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
    • The University of Hong Kong

Application Process:

  • All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the scholarship. 
  • The shortlisted candidates are interviewed by the respective selection panels.

Value of the Scholarship:

The successful candidates are awarded the following benefits:

  • An annual stipend of HK$344,400
  • A conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$14,400 per year for a period of up to three years.
