Graduate Student Scholarships Program by Alberta Innovates 2024

To enhance provincial results in the field of new technologies, Alberta Innovates is strengthening the Graduate Student Scholarships program. It seeks to maintain its support for Alberta's graduate student population's talent development as they enter the workforce in fields related to cutting-edge technologies that the government has strategically designated as being significant.

About the Program: 

The growth of Alberta’s economy depends on the development of new and emerging technologies, which have applications in sectors such as agriculture, health, oil and gas, and many others. This research depends heavily on the work of highly skilled graduate students studying at universities around the province.

Eligibility criteria for the Graduate Student Scholarships Program:

Graduate students at one of the following post-secondary institutions who are conducting full-time research in important emerging technology areas—information and communications technologies (ICT) and advanced materials and manufacturing technologies (AMM)—can apply for this scholarship program if they are Canadian, permanent residents, or international students:

• Athabasca University
• Concordia University of Edmonton
• University of Alberta
• University of Calgary
• University of Lethbridge

• Submit your application to your institution.
• Wait for your application to be reviewed.

Selection Process:

Scholarship applications and evaluation procedures for students enrolled in full-time programs are unique to each of the participating Albertan universities. For assessment information, kindly contact the graduate studies department at your university. Recipients of the Alberta Innovates Graduate Student Scholarship are required to submit post-award reports following the completion of the award, as well as yearly and final reports during the grant period. After the first year, multi-year scholarships are renewed yearly if the student maintains good grades.
