Overview

Mrs. Helen Hopkins founded this prize in 1975 in memory of her late husband, George Hopkins, a longtime tutor for woodwind instruments at the School of Music.

Eligibility Criteria for the University of Auckland George Hopkins Prize:

Applicants must:

  • Be a full-time woodwind student
  • Be enrolled in one of the following programmes:
    • Bachelor of Music
    • Bachelor of Music (Conjoint degree)
    • Bachelor of Music (Honours)
    • Graduate Diploma in Music
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Music
  • Be studying at the School of Music
  • Have achieved the highest mark in one of the following courses:
    • MUS 121
    • MUS 221
    • MUS 321
    • MUS 620 A & B
    • MUS 721
  • Meet the standard of sufficient academic merit as determined by the University

Value of the University of Auckland George Hopkins Prize:

The value of the Prize will be $500.

Application Process:

  • Nomination is made to the Scholarships Office.
