Overview

The research scholarship offered by Swansea University is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

Project description:

This theoretical project will develop novel, rigorous techniques, to calculate refined measures of quantum entanglement of spatial regions in conformal field theories with boundaries (BCFTs) at large central charge, in thermal and “locally quenched” non-thermal initial states.

Eligibility criteria for the Fully Funded EPSRC AND STFC Ph.D. Scholarship, 2022:

  • Applicants from all nationalities are eligible.
  • Applicants must have a First, Upper Second Class Honours or a Master’s degree with Merit, in a relevant discipline.
  • Applicants must provide IELTS 6.5 (with 6.0 in each component) or equivalent. 

Value of the Fully Funded EPSRC AND STFC Ph.D. Scholarship, 2022:

Successful applicants will receive the following benefits-

  • Engineering Doctorate Scholarships include tuition fees at home rate and a stipend of £20,000 per annum, each for a period of four years.
  • Master’s by Research Scholarships include tuition fees at home rate and a stipend of £12,500 for a period of one year.
