Frank Healy Scholarship in Law at Victoria University of Wellington
The Francis John Healy Scholarship, established in 2020 through a bequest from alumnus Frank Healy, provides financial support to second and third-year Māori and Pasifika undergraduate students in Victoria University of Wellington’s Faculty of Law. The scholarship is aimed at students facing economic, educational, or social disadvantages.
Eligibility Criteria of Frank Healy Scholarship in Law:
- The scholarship is open to Māori and Pasifika students currently enrolled in 200- or 300-level LAWS courses who are experiencing economic, educational, or social disadvantage.
- Disadvantage is defined as facing significant obstacles while preparing for university education.
- Examples of qualifying circumstances include low-income or single-parent households, limited family experience with higher education, attendance at low-decile or high-dropout schools, and growing up in a non-English-speaking household.
Selection Criteria:
- Applicants must be Māori or Pasifika students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, taking at least 50% of 200- or 300-level LAWS courses.
- Applicants must be experiencing some form of economic, educational, or social disadvantage.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: Between NZD 4,500 - NZD 5,000.
Note: Recipients must write a letter of thanks to specified members of the donor’s family (addressed to the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation) and provide an end of year progress report if requested.
