Forest History Scholarship in Quebec at Laval University 2025

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a student who wants to further their knowledge in the area of Quebec's forestry history or refine a project they are currently working on. Under Professor Maude Flamand-Hubert's guidance, the student will be able to finish an original production (a report, article, chronicle, etc.) on a topic related to the history of forestry.

Eligibility for Forest History Scholarship in Quebec at Laval University:

• Applicants must enroll full-time (or be deemed full-time according to Student Financial Aid) in one of the programs targeted for the fall 2025 and winter 2026 sessions.
• Applicants must be able to devote themselves to a project on forest history in Quebec, led by Ms. Maude Flamand-Hubert, during the summer of 2026, for a duration of 7 weeks (or the equivalent of 7 weeks). The project must touch on one of the following themes:
• History of the use of wood in construction
• History of the use of forest biomass as fuel
• History of forest operations and roads
• History of private forests
• Industrial heritage and equipment (sawing, pulp and paper)
• Forest economy and evolution of timber marketing mechanisms
• History of professional practices
• History of public and development policies (concession, supply contract, protected areas)
• Traditional and artisanal uses of wood

Value of the Scholarship:

The successful candidates are awarded a sum of CAD 5,000.
