FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme 2026

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is offering Hungarian Government Scholarships for students pursuing selected masters in science program in the specific university in Hungary. The eligible programs are:

• Master in Aquaculture – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus
• Master in Animal Husbandry Engineering – University of Debrecen      

Eligibility for Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations - Hungarian Government Scholarships:

• Applicants must be a citizen from the selected list of nationalities.
• Applicants must enroll in one of the following programs:
  • Master in Aquaculture – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences
  • Master in Animal Husbandry Engineering – University of Debrecen
• Applicants must be commencing their studies in September 2025.
• Applicants are assessed based on the following criteria:
  • Citizenship and residency of one of the eligible countries
  • Excellent school achievements
  • English language proficiency
  • Motivation, Good health
  • Age (preferably under 30)

Application Process:

• All eligible candidates must complete and submit the dossiers.
• FAO will then screen the candidates and submit the applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary.
• The applications will then be forwarded to the respective universities.
• Successful candidates may be required to attempt an admission test.
• The respective University will run a further selection process and notify the successful candidates. 

Value of the Scholarship:

The successful applicants of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations - Hungarian Government Scholarships will receive:

• Tuition and Application fees + basic books and notes;
• Accommodations;
• Living expenses;
• Health Insurance.
