The Flinders International Research Scholarship (FIPRS) is a scholarship specifically intended to support international students that cover international tuition fees and also provides a stipend.
Eligibility for the Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (FIPRS):
- Applicants must be citizens of any overseas country except New Zealand and not hold Australian citizenship, Australian permanent resident status, or New Zealand citizenship.
- Candidates should intend to commence full-time study for a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time in the year for which the award is to be offered. Students who commenced their higher degree by research in the previous year but who, due to the timing of their application for admission and subsequent enrollment, were unable to apply for an FIPRS in that year, or who commenced a higher degree by research and terminated that enrollment within six months of commencement, may be considered.
- Students must intend to enroll in an area of research concentration. These are areas in which the University has a particular strength, has concentrated its research resources, and has attracted external funding.
- Candidates must satisfy all entry requirements for a higher degree by research, including the English proficiency levels by the English Language Proficiency Requirements for HDR Candidature.

Value of the Scholarship:
- The FIPRS covers the cost of Flinders University's tuition for overseas students pursuing a postgraduate research degree.
- Furthermore, a stipend furnishes the beneficiary with an ample living allowance, valued at $33,990 annually (2024 rates). It is yearly indexed and exempt from taxes.
- If the student can demonstrate receipts, a FIPRS student who relocates to Adelaide from out of the country may be eligible for an establishment grant (after arriving at Flinders) of up to $1,485 to help with moving expenses and flights.
