Estranged/Independent Bursary

Introduction:

The Estranged/Independent Bursary provides financial support to eligible undergraduate students who are irreconcilably estranged from their families or are under 25 and financially independent.

Eligibility criteria of Estranged/Independent Bursary: 

  • The applicant must be paying home tuition fees of £9,790.
  • The applicant must have received the maximum available support from the Student Loans Company.
  • The applicant must have approved 'irreconcilably estranged' or 'under 25 and self-funding' status from the Student Loans Company.

Application process for Estranged/Independent Bursary: 

  • Applicants must apply for Estranged/Independent status through Student Finance England (SFE) and provide the required supporting evidence.
  • Students with approved SFE status are automatically eligible for the bursary each year of study.

Award: GBP 1,000

Note: The bursary is paid at the start of February after Semester 2 attendance is confirmed.
