Education Abroad Gilman Guarantee Program at the University of Maryland:

The Education Abroad Gilman Guarantee Program is funded and administered by the University of Maryland (UMD) Education Abroad Office. It provides guaranteed financial support to eligible Federal Pell Grant recipients who apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and participate in an approved UMD study abroad program.

Eligibility requirements for education abroad Gilman Guarantee Program at the University of Maryland:

  • The applicants must be current Federal Pell Grant recipients.
  • The applicants must commit to and participate in a UMD-approved Education Abroad program.
  • The applicants must submit a complete Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship application by the official deadline.
  • The applicants must have their Gilman application reviewed by the National Scholarship Office (NSO) at least two days before the Gilman deadline.

Application Process:

  • The applicants must submit a complete Gilman Scholarship application by the published deadline.

Value of the Scholarship:

  • Eligible Gilman Scholarship applicants who don't win the award will receive USD 2,500 in total guaranteed funding from Education Abroad (EA). Those who do win will keep their USD 500 EA scholarship but receive no additional EA funds.

NOTE:

  • The students are only eligible to receive the Gilman Guarantee scholarship once
