Overview

The Duncan Norman Research Scholarship at the University of Liverpool was established in 2004 following the receipt of a generous donation from The Duncan Norman Charitable Trust in memory of the late Duncan Norman.

Eligibility for Duncan Norman Research Scholarship:

  • Open to all full-time postgraduate research students irrespective of nationality, tuition fee status, or subject area.
  • Prospective applicants must hold a formal offer of study for a Ph.D. program at the University of Liverpool.
  • Recipients of scholarships must register for a PhD at the University of Liverpool and attend any events based in Liverpool that are organized by the Duncan Norman Charitable Trust.

Value of the Duncan Norman Research Scholarship:

Two scholarships shall be awarded annually, and this prestigious scholarship consists of the following funding and research support:

  • Full payment of tuition fees (Home, EU, or Overseas)
  • Laptop or desktop computer of up to £1,000 in value
  • Support for conference expenses of up to £500 in years 2 and 3.
  • Free university accommodation of up to £5,500 pa or an allowance of the same amount for students wishing to live off campus
  • Competitive annual maintenance stipend of £23,000 (or top-up to this level of maintenance if the candidate is in receipt of another source of funding)
  • Support for Research Support Funding (RSF) up to £1,250 per year (this must be recorded in the academic offer letter).
