The primary goal of the Dudley Freeman Prize in Photographic Practices and History at the University of Auckland 2025 is to acknowledge and reward the student who has written the most original, creative, and interdisciplinary research essay in ARTHIST 246 or ARTHIST 346 during odd years, or ARTHIST 206 or ARTHIST 313 during even years.

Eligibility Criteria for the Dudley Freeman Prize in Photographic Practices and History at the University of Auckland:

Applicants must be full-time students.
Applicants must have submitted the most original, creative, and interdisciplinary research essay.
For even years, applicants must have submitted an essay in ARTHIST 206 or 313 (South Asian Photography).
For odd years, applicants must have submitted an essay in ARTHIST 246 or 346 (Global History of Photography).

Value of the Dudley Freeman Prize in Photographic Practices and History at the University of Auckland:

One prize will be awarded each year, with a value of $2,000.

Application Process:
