This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music for the most excellent musical composition, with a preference for pieces that combine jazz and classical influences.

Eligibility for the Dr. Allan Zavod Composition Award at the University of Melbourne:

Applicants must:

Be enrolled as an undergraduate or honours student in a Music coursework degree
Be studying within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music
Be specialising in classical/jazz fusion compositions
Have produced an outstanding musical composition
Preference is given to students submitting scored classical–jazz fusion compositions.

Value of the Dr. Allan Zavod Composition Award at the University of Melbourne:

The award provides a one-off payment of approximately $10000 if a single recipient is selected, or $5,000 if two recipients are selected.
