Deliberative Discourse Fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) 2025

Eligibility

• The Deliberative Discourse Fellowship is awarded to incoming students at Heinz College who are dedicated to fostering environments that promote diverse opinions and perspectives, with a focus on reducing polarization.
• To be eligible, applicants must have been admitted to a full-time master's program at Heinz College.
• Preference will be given to students who have actively engaged in efforts related to deliberative discourse, creating spaces for diverse conversations, or working towards reducing polarization in various settings such as organizations or college campuses.

Application Process

• To apply for the Deliberative Discourse Fellowship, you must first be admitted to a full-time master's program at Heinz College.
• There is no separate application specifically for the fellowship, but candidates should highlight their relevant experiences and commitment to deliberative discourse and reducing polarization within their application materials.
• If selected, the recipient will work closely with the DICE Office on the Deliberative Discourse Initiative throughout their academic year.

Value or Benefit

• The Deliberative Discourse Fellowship offers a $2,000 per semester scholarship, helping students with non-tuition expenses.
• The fellowship provides a total of $4,000 to $6,000 per academic year.
