Cecil M Segedin Prize In Engineering Science at University of Auckland 2026

This award was created in 1988 to recognize Cecil Segedin's exceptional contributions to the University and, in particular, to the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, which he oversaw from the department's founding in 1963 until his retirement in 1980. The Prize is intended to promote the pursuit of excellence in the field of engineering science.

Eligibility for the Cecil M. Segedin Prize in Engineering Science:

Applicants must:

• Be enrolled in Part IV of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) – Engineering Science programme.
• Be enrolled specifically in ENGSCI 700 Research Project.
• Have produced a project that best demonstrates the Learning Objectives outlined in the course.
• Have achieved a minimum grade of A- in ENGSCI 700.

Value of the Cecil M. Segedin Prize in Engineering Science:

• One prize is awarded annually.
• Value: $500 NZD.

• Eligible students enrolled in ENGSCI 700 are automatically considered.
