    Overview:

    Scholarship Honours Carl Nielsen’s legacy in Australian industrial design and education. Provides financial support to a student with a strong understanding of global design and manufacturing and the social, ecological, and technological responsibilities of modern product design.

    Eligibility for Carl Nielsen Professional Development Scholarship UTS:

    • Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or hold an Australian permanent resident or permanent humanitarian visa.
      Enrolled in C10304 Bachelor of Design in Product Design or one of the following combined courses:
      • C10305 Bachelor of Design in Product Design / Bachelor of International Studies
      • C10323 Bachelor of Design in Product Design / Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation
      • C10428 Bachelor of Design in Product Design / Bachelor of Languages and Cultures
      • C09145 Bachelor of Design in Product Design / Bachelor of International Studies (Honours
    • Completed minimum 96 credit points at the time of application.
    • Achieve a minimum WAM of 75.
    • All candidates must be available to attend an interview (Face to Face or via Zoom)

    Selection process:

    • Aspirations: Identify international design and manufacturing organisations the applicant aims to work with as a product designer.
    • Design values and practice: Explain how personal design philosophy aligns with Carl Nielsen’s life and legacy.
    • Social, ecological, and technological responsibilities: Show awareness of modern product design’s broader impact in relation to the three-year plan.
    • Professional development: Demonstrate intent to pursue opportunities in the international product design sector.
    • Focus area: Highlight a passion for industrial product design and manufacture, not digital UX, service, systems, or social design.
