Care Leavers Bursary

Introduction: 

The Care Leavers Bursary provides financial support to eligible undergraduate students entering higher education directly from Local Authority Care.

Eligibility criteria for Care Leavers Bursary: 

• The applicant must be a Home (UK) undergraduate student enrolled in the 2026/27 academic year.
• The applicant must be paying home tuition fees of £9,790.
• The applicant must have approved Care Leaver/Care Experienced status from the Student Loans Company.
• The applicant must have received the maximum available support from the Student Loans Company.

Application process for the Care Leavers Bursary: 

• Students should declare their care-experienced status when applying for Student Finance England and provide a confirmation letter from their local authority if required.
• Eligible students with approved Student Finance England Care Leaver status are automatically awarded the bursary each year of study.

Award: GBP 1,000

Note: The bursary is paid annually after Semester 2 attendance is confirmed.
