Brian John Shaw Scholarship at The University of Melbourne 2026

In honor of Brian John Shaw QC's honorable and distinguished career at the bar and in the legal profession, as well as to preserve his memory, his colleagues established the Brian John Shaw Scholarship (BA(Hons) 1956, LLB(Hons) 1956) to mark his retirement. The scholarship is available to students in the Juris Doctor program who face disadvantaged circumstances. 

Eligibility for the Brian John Shaw Scholarship at the University of Melbourne:

Applicants must:

• Have applied for the Juris Doctor through Graduate Access Melbourne under the Disadvantaged socio-economic circumstances category
• Have submitted the Disadvantaged Socio-economic Circumstances Supplementary Form
• Meet the Graduate Access Melbourne entry requirements for the Juris Doctor

Value of the Brian John Shaw Scholarship at the University of Melbourne:

This scholarship provides a living allowance of $15,000 per year for three years, paid in half-yearly installments of $7500 in April and September. The first installment will be split in $1,500 as an establishment allowance paid shortly after enrollment and $6,000 in April.

There is no need for a separate application; eligible students will be considered automatically.
