Eligibility Criteria for the Bernard Brown Literary Award at University of Auckland 2026:

Applicants must:

• Be enrolled in Part II, Part III, or Part IV of an LLB or LLB (Hons) degree.
• Be studying within the Faculty of Law, University of Auckland.
• Submit a piece of creative writing (in English or Te Reo Māori) on:
  • any aspect of law or custom, or
  • the literary, philosophical, or political foundations of law,
  • as part of a competition organized by the Faculty of Law.
• Meet any additional requirements listed in Note I (this note is deemed a regulation).

Value of the Bernard Brown Literary Award at University of Auckland 2026:

• $500 NZD, awarded annually.
• In the event of a tie, the Dean of Law (or nominee) may determine whether the prize is shared.

Application Process:

• Submit an eligible creative writing entry to the Faculty of Law competition.
• The Faculty then forwards nominations to the Scholarships Office.
• No separate application form is typically required unless specified by the Faculty.
