The teach. Rural Scholarship supports future teachers who intend to teach in rural and remote NSW public schools. It provides financial assistance during study, course-fee support, a rural practicum allowance, and a permanent teaching position after graduation

Eligibility Criteria for the Avondale University teach. Rural Scholarship at the NSW Department of Education 2026:

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Applicants must have 6 months to 5 years of study remaining in an eligible teacher education program from Semester 1, 2027.
  • Applicants must be preparing to teach in an eligible secondary or K–12 inclusive/special education area.
  • Applicants must meet NSW Department of Education and NESA requirements.
  • Applicants must commit to a permanent full-time rural or remote NSW teaching position.
