Asia Connect Scholarships at Victoria University of Wellington
The scholarship is designed to enable students to fully immerse themselves in another culture, grow personally and academically, and return to Aotearoa New Zealand with insights about Asia that can positively impact their communities.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington and must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
- Applicants must have secured or applied for a place in a university exchange programme in Singapore through the Wellington Global Exchange Programme and must be in their second year or above at the time of the exchange.
- Applicants enrolled in the Kitea Impact Programme may be given additional consideration, though this is not a requirement.
Selection Criteria:
- Applicants must clearly articulate the anticipated benefits of the international experience, including personal growth, educational and career development, opportunities to strengthen New Zealand’s global connections, and how they envision their time abroad, the experiences they hope to gain, challenges they expect, and plans to immerse themselves in the local environment.
- Applicants’ work ethic and commitment will be considered, as evidenced by part-time employment, extracurricular activities, or volunteer work, with preference potentially given to students experiencing financial hardship.
Application Process:
- This scholarship will be offered for the first time in 2026.
- A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
Award: NZD 30,000.
Deadline: 1st June, 2026.

- Funds will be disbursed in instalments.
