Annual Scholarships for Study Abroad 2026

Eligibility Criteria for Annual Scholarships for Study Abroad:

Applicants must:

• Be enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, Diploma, or State Examination program.
• Plan to spend an academic year abroad during their studies.
• Be from any nationality.
• Belong to any academic discipline, with separate DAAD programs available for artistic disciplines:
  • Architecture
  • Fine Arts / Design / Film
  • Performing Arts
  • Music
• For medical or pharmacy students: complete at least two rotations or six months abroad in the practical year.
• Not plan a stay solely for language courses (use DAAD language scholarships for that).

Value of Annual Scholarships for Study Abroad:

• Monthly stipend (based on host country; separate rates for undergrad/grad students; subject to change).
• Travel allowance (depending on host country).
• Health, accident, and personal liability insurance.
• Additional benefits (upon application after funding starts):
  • Tuition fee subsidies (up to a limit)
  • Language course grant (for national language or language of instruction/work)
  • Family support for accompanying spouse/partner/children
  • Travel grants within host country (related to the project, accommodation not covered)
  • Disability or chronic illness subsidies (on case-by-case basis)
• Third-party contributions: partially credited toward the DAAD scholarship; domestic funding may reduce the DAAD award.

Application Process:

• Submit the application through the DAAD Scholarship Database.
• Provide a study plan, academic documents, letters of recommendation, language certificates, and any required country-specific documents.
• Include justification for multiple host institutions/countries if applicable.
• Additional documentation is required for the medicine/pharmacy practical year.
