Eligibility Criteria for the AMVETS Scholarships:

  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Applicants must be the child or grandchild of an Honorably/General under Honorable Discharged conditions United States Veteran or Active Military to include National Guard and Reserves.
  • Applicants must be a 12th Grader entering college during the Fall Semester within the year of graduation.
  • Applicants must meet the AMVETS/FAFSA requires of a Regular Student.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in an eligible degree program at an accredited four (4) year college or university.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicants must not be in default on a federal student loan.
  • Applicants must agree to authorize AMVETS to publicize scholarship award.

Application Process:

Applicants must apply for the scholarship. to be eligible to receive the award amount.

Required Documents:

  • Honorable discharged DD214, veteran record, or current letter from command.
  • High school transcripts providing GPA status/High school diploma.
  • Tax Forms maybe requested but not required.
  • FAFSA Submission Summary from the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Acceptance letter from an accredited college program.
  • Expenses or publications from school.
  • Student Resume highlighting four (4) year high school accomplishments, extra activities, and volunteerism.
  • 400 to 500 word themed essay (theme listed on application).

Value of the AMVETS Scholarships:

The successful candidates will receive an award amount worth $4,000.
