Overview
Eligibility for AAHD Scholarships in the US:
- Applicants must be citizens or legal residents living in the US.
- Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at an accredited US university.
- Undergraduate Applicants: Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and completed one full year of college or more.
- Graduate Applicants: May be enrolled part-time or full-time in a graduate school, pursuing a post graduate degree as of fall 2024.
- Applicants majoring in public health, health promotion, disability studies, disability research, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, special education, or other fields related to disability and health are given first consideration.
- Applicants must have a disability as deemed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and must submit supporting documentation.
- Applicants with a history of community service and/or volunteer activities are favorably considered.
- Applicants serving on the Disability and Health Journal Editorial Board are not eligible for the AAHD Scholarship.
Application Process:
All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the scholarship. The application should include the following components:
- Personal Statement
- Letter of Recommendation
- Transcripts (Official or Unofficial)
- Verification documents of the disability status
- Agreement to allow AAHD to use his/her name, photo and/or story in future scholarship materials.
Value of the Scholarship:
- The successful applicants will receive an award of USD 1,000 (subject to change).
