The Chancellor's Award recognizes exceptional international secondary school graduates who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and strong English language proficiency. The scholarship supports high-performing students as they begin their undergraduate studies at Algoma University.

Eligibility Criteria for Chancellor's Award:

Applicants must:

  • Be a new international student entering Algoma University for the first time.
  • Be enrolling in the first year of an undergraduate degree program.
  • Be registered as a full-time student (15 credits per term during Fall and Winter).
  • Meet one of the following academic requirements:
    • A+ average (or country equivalent) in previous studies.
    • Ontario applicants: 90–100% average in the top six Grade 12 U/M courses used for admission.
    • International Baccalaureate (IB): 40–45 diploma points.
  • Meet the minimum English language proficiency requirement:
    • Cambridge English: 185 overall
    • Duolingo English Test: 125
    • IELTS: Overall 7.0, with no band below 6.0
    • Pearson PTE Academic: 65
    • TOEFL: 560 paper-based or 85 internet-based
  • Provide a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) before scholarship disbursement.
  • Note: Students with a grade C or higher in O-Level English may not need to submit an English language test.

Value of Chancellor's Award:

  • CAD $20,000 total scholarship
  • Awarded as CAD $5,000 per academic year
