The Chancellor's Award recognizes exceptional international secondary school graduates who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and strong English language proficiency. The scholarship supports high-performing students as they begin their undergraduate studies at Algoma University.
Eligibility Criteria for Chancellor's Award:
Applicants must:
- Be a new international student entering Algoma University for the first time.
- Be enrolling in the first year of an undergraduate degree program.
- Be registered as a full-time student (15 credits per term during Fall and Winter).
- Meet one of the following academic requirements:
- A+ average (or country equivalent) in previous studies.
- Ontario applicants: 90–100% average in the top six Grade 12 U/M courses used for admission.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): 40–45 diploma points.
- Meet the minimum English language proficiency requirement:
- Cambridge English: 185 overall
- Duolingo English Test: 125
- IELTS: Overall 7.0, with no band below 6.0
- Pearson PTE Academic: 65
- TOEFL: 560 paper-based or 85 internet-based
- Provide a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) before scholarship disbursement.
- Note: Students with a grade C or higher in O-Level English may not need to submit an English language test.
Value of Chancellor's Award:
- CAD $20,000 total scholarship
- Awarded as CAD $5,000 per academic year
