The Akers Family History Travel Grant was established in 2022 by David Akers, a UQ alumnus who has a passion for history and travel. David pursued a BA (Hons) from 1981 to 1984 with majors in History, English, and Economics. His love for history is partly influenced by the impact of his uncle, Clark Davis Irwin, who died during WWII, on the family.
Eligibility Criteria for the Akers Family History Travel Grant at the University of Queensland 2024:

Applicants must be enrolled in an approved program with a major, extended major, or field of study in History or Ancient History/History.

Applicants should not hold any other travel grant or scholarship.

Applicants must not have previously received this Grant.

Applicants must have identified a travel opportunity of at least four weeks, scheduled to begin within the next 12 months, that will enhance their studies in History.
Application Process:
Applicants must apply via an online application form where they need to provide information on their studies to date, financial information and answer some questions about the travel opportunity.
Value of the scholarship:
A partial amount of AUD 1,500 will be given to the successful applicant.
Deadline:
Students must carefully review eligibility criteria before submitting their application by 30th August 2024.
