Advanced Manufacturing of New and High-Performance Filament Wound Composites and Joining Systems – PhD Scholarship at University of Southern Queensland
This project will focus on design optimisation and advanced manufacturing of new and high-performance composite profiles and joining systems through an automated filament winding process.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The applicant must have completed an Honours Degree with First Class or 2A Honours, or equivalent level, or a Master's degree with a significant research component, and have applied or be currently enrolled full-time on-campus in the PhD program at UniSQ.
- The applicant must not be receiving equivalent support providing a benefit greater than 75% of the student’s stipend rate and must be eligible to commence or continue a PhD program no later than January 2025.
Selection Criteria: Applicants will be assessed on the applicant’s high level of academic achievement (e.g., honours classification, postgraduate performance, academic prizes/awards) and demonstrated research capability (e.g., publications, conference presentations, internships, or creative works).
Application Process:
- The applicant must provide a CV (including research presentations/publications), a Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal, and copies of academic qualifications (testamur and transcripts).
- The applicant must have their current/prospective supervisor complete the Supervisor Support Letter and submit the full application via the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System by the closing date.
Award: Stipend of AUD $37,000. Tuition fees for a maximum period of three years full-time equivalent study.
Deadline: 15 November 2024.

- Maximum period of tenure of an award is 3 years. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree will be deducted from the period of tenure.
