The Technical University of Kaiserslautern (German Technische Universität Kaiserslautern or simply TU Kaiserslautern) is a research university in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

In addition, students and (young) scientists benefit from the numerous internationally renowned research institutions, including three Fraunhofer Institutes ( IESE, ITWM, and IPM), the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) , the Institute for composite materials (IVW), the Institute for technology and work (ITA), the Institute of biotechnology and drug research (IBWF) and the Institute for surface and Thin film analysis (IFOS), all of which cooperate closely with the university for applied research.
