Durham University is awarding up to 25 vice-chancellor’s scholarships to students who plan to commence their studies at Durham in 2019. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate an exceptional level of excellence in Sport, Music or the Arts; for example participation in sporting or musical events at a national or international level. Applicants will also be required to play an active part in Durham University’s sporting, musical and performing communities.
Eligibility for Durham University-VC's Scholarships For Sport, Music And The Arts 2019:
- VC's Scholarships offers can only be made for direct entry:
- Deferred entry applicants i.e. students who are applying to the University for entry in 2019 would make their scholarship application by the deadline of 15 January 2018 for consideration with other scholarship applications for 2019 entry.
- Once you receive a scholarship offer please note that it would not be possible to defer either your scholarship offer or your academic offer.
- Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate an exceptional level of excellence in Sport, Music or the Arts; for example participation in sporting or musical events at a national or international level.
- Applicants will also be required to play an active part in Durham University’s sporting, musical and performing communities.

- Up to 25 vice-chancellor’s scholarships are available.
Duration of award(s):
- VC's Scholarships are awarded for the duration of the undergraduate programme (typically three years).
Selection Criteria:
- Candidate performance level, personal statement, and reference will be considered by a panel of senior members of the University with significant expertise in the area of Sport, Music and the Arts.
- Guidance may also be sought from sports coaches and colleagues with musical and drama experience.
Value of Vice-Chancellor's Scholarships :
- The value of VC's Scholarships is £2,000 per annum.
