Eligibility

  • The applicants from Africa are eligible
  • Junior faculty members from departments of political science; international relations; history, law, development studies, peace, security and conflict studies, and related departments from universities based in Africa are eligible.
  • The travel documents must be required prior to acceptance.
  • The Candidates applying must be interested in pursuing careers in the field of Peace, Security and Development and the candidates must be familiar with issues.
  • The Candidates should also be committed to contributing to work on peace and security in Africa and should demonstrate the same.
  • A clear plan for utilisation of knowledge after gained in the Fellowship should be demonstrated by the candidate.
  • Fluent Spoken and written English is required.
  • Candidates must also express their views and values like Independent thinking; Integrity; Pursuit of excellence; and a value for all forms of diversity during the application process.

Documents required

  • Application letter explaining your relevant experience and qualification.
  • Your views on how the programme is important and future plans for engagement with peace and security issues should be submitted in a statement of 1,000 words.
  • Letters of recommendation (two). You may also have to submit names and contacts of referees
  • Detailed CV
  • Writing samples (two) with a maximum of 3000 words each.

More about The African Leadership Centre (ALC)

The African Leadership Centre (ALC) was established in Nairobi Kenya on the 24th June 2010 as an educational trust under Kenyan law, and in partnership with King’s College London and the University of Nairobi. The ALC and its flagship programmes grew out of the Conflict, Security and Development Group (CSDG) at King’s College London. The ALC aims to do the following:

• To train and mentor young Africans with the potential to lead and enable innovative change in their communities and in the African region.

• To build the capacity of the individuals we train, and in so doing, ofthe communities, institutions and organizations in which they live and work.

• To contribute to building a wholistic knowledge base, based on theory and critical analysis, on the causes of conflict and insecurity in Africa

•To nurture a solid knowledge base among ALC Fellows/ Alumni thereby forming a foundation for innovation and agenda-setting.

• To increase, in scope and quality, knowledge on peace, security and development within select academic institutions in Africa.

• To contribute to critical engagement with global discourses on peace, security and development.

• To contribute to nurturing and upscaling the generation and ownership of African ideas around peace, security and development for Africa and that are grounded in African realities.

    Yes, you can secure an education loan to study abroad at The African Leadership Centre (ALC). Education loans are of two types- Collateral and non collateral. Collateral includes either: Immovable property – a house or a flat or land (or) liquid security – an FD, or LIC or shares or bonds. Agricultural lands are not accepted by any bank for education loan.

    Public banks like SBI, BOB offer these types of education loans. There are many NBFCs who offer Non-collateral education loans. Apply for the best education loan to study abroad.
