The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) invites applications for two stipends for international doctoral researchers in its new Graduate School Scholarship Program (GSSP), "Global Inequality, the Middle Classes, and the Welfare State" (GloWel), funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
GloWel will focus on the interrelation between the development of global inequalities, global social policies, and the role of the emerging middle classes for social and political integration.
Eligibility criteria for the BIGSSS GloWel (GSSP) Program for International Doctoral Researchers, 2022:
- Applicant must be a international applicant, proficient in English language (speaking & writing).
- Applicant must not have resided in Germany any time after February 15, 2021.
- Applicant must be completed MA degree and the validation of the degree must be available by May 15, 2022, which means you may apply before having finished your MA degree.
- At the time of application, your last final exam must have taken place no longer than 6 years ago.
- Applicant must have an excellent MA degree (or national equivalents) in Sociology, Political Science, Psychology or related social science disciplines e.g. Law, Economics or Media Sciences.
- Applicant must be willing to complete dissertation project in the field “Global Inequality, the Middle Classes and the Welfare State“” aligns with the research focus of one or several of our program PIs.
- Applicant must have an interest in pursuing a PhD in a structured PhD program and in actively engaging in the events and activities at an international graduate school.
Value of the BIGSSS GloWel (GSSP) Program for International Doctoral Researchers, 2022:
Successful applicants will receive a Ph.D. stipend from the DAAD of 1.200 €/month (plus additional benefits - travel expenses, medical insurance, research expenses and German language course) for 48 months.
